Should I have practiced posing before this shoot?” This is a question I’ve heard a few times from women who’ve participated in a Boudoir shoot with me. So, I’d like to take a moment to discuss this.
If you’re planning poses ahead of time or worrying about whether it’s expected of you, it tells me one thing: you’re trying to control the process rather than simply relishing it. Ladies, the responsibility of how the photos turn out is never on you. The onus is always on the photographer. My primary aim is to capture your artful essence while ensuring you have the most positive experience possible. Is there any other purpose to hiring a luxury boudoir photographer?
Sure, you could have asked your friend, sister, or partner to take these photos. But you didn’t just choose someone who owns a camera. You opted for a professional. More importantly, you chose an artist with a distinct style and vision. You wanted to be captured in a unique way that only this artist can offer. And with that style comes the need for guidance and direction during the session. So, please, alleviate the pressure. There’s no expectation for you to be a seasoned poser or model.
Instead, try to embrace this journey with an open heart and an eager mindset. The photos are the easy part – the shoot itself is about the experience, about creating a safe space where you can feel authentically yourself.
My job isn’t to teach you how to pose, but rather to curate an environment where you feel comfortable and relaxed. Once you’re fully immersed in the moment, the camera will just fade into the background. This is the true magic of my Boudoir Sessions. Rest assured, I’ll be there every step of the way, offering guidance and direction, ensuring that you never feel alone or unsure.
